This program provides some of the most comprehensive and effective instruction available in the Prescott area. It continues to evolve to provide students with the technique that is relevant to today’s standards and applicable for any life situation. This is a program with proven results and is focused on developing students not only physically, but mentally as well. At GD Jiu-Jitsu Prescott, we have decided to specialize in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the Grappling Arts in order to give our students a true depth of ability in these aspects. With a wide variety of classes from beginners to competition training, our program fits all lifestyles and schedules. The concepts and techniques learned can be applicable in a number of different situations, including Self Defense, Sport Jiu-Jitsu and even MMA.

Jiu-Jitsu, which means “gentle art”, emphasizes the use of technique and leverage. Your child won’t have to rely on size, strength, or speed to defend themselves. We teach them to subdue their opponent in a safe and humane way, without having to rely on kicks and punches. Your child will develop physical awareness of balance, reflexes, flexibility and coordination, as well as build on the mental aspects of their personality such as self-esteem, discipline, confidence, compassion and good work ethic. The classes are taught in a positive, fun and friendly manner, so your child will enjoy learning the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

The GD Jiu-Jitsu Prescott Academy Competition program is perfect for the competitive athlete that is looking to take his or her game to the next level. This class focuses on Jiu Jitsu as a sport and is geared toward getting our competitors ready for tournaments. Focused primarily  on sparring, our competition program is designed to prepare students for competition. It features hand on coaching that will help each student find and develop his or her personal Jiu Jitsu style. The class is designed to help students feel confident and prepared for their upcoming competition. This class will also feature hard drilling, competitive sparring, and conditioning. Although the class is designed for competitors it is not exclusive. This program is open to all students from White to Black Belt.

Students will have the opportunity to learn the same Jiu Jitsu techniques being taught in the Gi Programs but learn how to adapt them to Nogi situations. Students must wear the Nogi uniform of a rash guard and board shorts or Spatz to participate in classes.
